With no franchise tag, Kenneth Walker could join 3 other Super Bowl MVPs in exclusive club

The Seattle Seahawks are not going to use the franchise tag on Kenneth Walker and that could lead to him joining an exclusive club that features three other Super Bowl MVPs.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Seahawks have decided not to utilize the tag on Walker, which means he will be an unrestricted free agent, barring him reaching an extension with Seattle before the start of free agency on March 11.

"Sources: the Seattle Seahawks are not expected to tag Super Bowl MVP Kenneth Walker III, who now is poised to become an unrestricted free agent when the new league year opens," Schefter reported.

Schefter also went on to note that if Walker leaves the Seahawks in free agency, he would be just the fourth Super Bowl MVP in league history to play for a different team a season after winning the prestigious

The other three: Desmond Howard, Larry Brown and Dexter Jackson.

There is a very real possibility that Walker departs.

After all, he is widely viewed as the most coveted running back available in free agency after his impressive 2025 campaign and will have plenty of suitors.

And, with all that interest in Walker, his price will only go up, which could lead to Seattle reaching whatever limited they have in mind for the veteran running back.

If Walker departs, he will leave a gaping hole in Seattle's backfield that is made even larger by the fact that fellow rusher, Zach Charbonnet, is rehabbing a torn ACL and is not certain to be ready for 2026.
