Andrea Berta has now made a phone call to sign a "powerful" striker for Arsenal, after receiving a request from manager Mikel Arteta.
Gunners eyeing new striker despite Gyokeres' improved form
After scoring a brace in the 4-1 North London derby victory against Tottenham Hotspur last month, Viktor Gyokeres was lauded by Arteta, who said: "We have always known about his quality. He is an incredible striker. He just needs to understand the team and the league better. We are in the right trajectory.
"The demand he puts on himself and expectations to help his team is big. My players tell me he is a nightmare to face in training and that's always a good sign of how good a player is."
Having scored five goals in his last six games, the Sweden international has now found the net 15 times in 37 matches across all competitions this season, which is a decent return in his debut campaign.
However, despite the fact Gyokeres is starting to find his feet in the Premier League, the north Londoners remain keen on bringing in a new centre-forward this summer, and Arteta has now requested the signing of Inter Milan star Pio Esposito.
That is according to a report from Gazzetta dello Sport (via Sport Witness), which states Berta immediately made a phone call to enquire about Esposito's availability, but he was told the Italian side are unwilling to sanction a departure.

The 20-year-old is regarded as a key player for Inter, and he remains under contract at the San Siro until 2030, which means they are in a strong negotiating position, and it could be difficult to tempt the Serie A side into a sale.
"Powerful" Esposito enjoying solid debut Serie A campaign
After spending the 2024-25 campaign out on loan at Spezia, the youngster has managed to force his way into Inter's plans this season, and he is enjoying a solid campaign, considering his age, amassing eight goal contributions in 25 Serie A outings.
Scout Ben Mattinson has always backed the starlet to thrive at Inter, and lauded him as a "big physical presence with powerful ball striking" last April.
The former Spezia loanee has been a constant threat in the Serie A, averaging 1.5 shots on target per 90, which is the most of any Inter player, but he is yet to become the most clinical striker, squandering 11 big chances, which is three more than Gyokeres has missed in the Premier League.
Not only is Gyokeres hitting a rich vein of form, but Arteta also has Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus at his disposal, so it is not the end of the world that Esposito seemingly won't be available this summer, even though he could've been an exciting long-term addition to the squad.
