'Sunday Night Football' Star Carrie Underwood Responds To Getting Booed

Carrie Underwood has quickly learned that "American Idol" fans are a bit more ruthless than NFL fans.

During this Monday's episode of "American Idol," Underwood offered this constructive criticism to contestant Mor: "In a room like this, for you to bring an original song with that incredible band sitting behind you, twiddling their thumbs, I feel like it was a missed opportunity." Her comments didn't sit well with the crowd in Nashville.

In fact, the "Before He Cheats" singer was heavily booed by those in attendance.

"You guys are gonna boo me. You're gonna boo me," Carrie told the audience, via E! News. "It's coming. Bring it on. I love it! Your boos are feeding me."

Carrie Underwood doubles down.

As Monday's episode of "American Idol" was airing on ABC, Underwood went on social media to address her critics.

"Boo me," she wrote on the platform formerly known as Twitter. "I don't care."

This post from Underwood received over 1.6 million views in a little over 12 hours.

"Honestly, the show needs a ‘Simon' even more harsh than any of your critiques. I used to love the show, but because of the constant ‘love' fest it's become unwatchable. No knock on you," one fan commented.

"Why are you being boo'd? For what it's worth, I think you're about the best role model for young women I can think of," another fan said.

"American Idol" welcomed back Underwood in August 2024. She became the show's first alum ever to join the judging panel.

"She embodies the true spirit of 'Idol' as she herself is the definition of the Cinderella story," the network said in a press release. "Our future hopefuls will have the chance to receive advice from someone who has walked in their exact footsteps every step of the way. Carrie has always been a strong supporter of 'Idol,' and I'm thrilled for her to be reunited with our 'Idol' Family."

The next episode of "American Idol" will air next Monday at 8 p.m. ET.
