Enquiry made: Liverpool now in contact to sign "incredible" Barcelona and Real Madrid target

Liverpool have now submitted an enquiry to sign an "incredible" Bayern Munich star, who is also being targeted by Real Madrid and Barcelona.

The Reds are starting to put together a strong run of form, as we approach the business end of the season, winning their last three Premier League matches, with Cody Gakpo breaking a seven-game duck in the 5-2 victory against West Ham United last time out.

There was no such luck for Mohamed Salah, however, and the Egyptian received criticism from former defender Steve Nicol, who said: "I know that we’re employed here because we played and we’ve seen almost everything. I’ve never seen this. I’ve never seen this.

"How somebody can go from the top of the mountain and just disappear so quickly is absolutely scary. I’ve never seen it before ever."

Gakpo and Salah have netted just ten Premier League goals between them this season, while Federico Chiesa continues to struggle to force his way into Arne Slot's plans, predominantly being used as a late substitute throughout the campaign.

Consequently, Slot & co have now set out to sign a new forward in the summer transfer window, and they have now submitted an enquiry about a deal for Bayern Munich star Michael Olise, who is also being targeted by Real Madrid, Barcelona, Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain.

However, Liverpool didn't receive the response they were hoping for, as Bayern have no interest in letting Olise leave, and the player himself isn't pushing for a move away from the Allianz Arena, where he remains under contract until 2029.

The Reds are looking at bringing in a long-term successor to Salah, and the Frenchman is viewed as a 'near-perfect' fit, but it appears as though agreeing a deal could be very difficult.

"Incredible" Olise impressing in Germany and Europe

The 24-year-old has been playing a major role in Bayern Munich's push for the Bundesliga title and European glory this season, amassing a whopping 38 goal contributions in all competitions.

Champions League 8 6

DFB-Pokal 4 4

With an average FotMob match rating of 8.16 in the Bundesliga, the winger is the second-best performing player in the Bayern squad, behind only Harry Kane, and he has created eight more big chances than any other player.

Lauded as an "incredible footballer" by content creator George Benson, the 13-time France international has predominantly featured on the right-wing, which indicates he could be a like-for-like replacement for Salah, but he is also capable of playing in attacking midfield.

As such, Olise could be an exciting signing for Liverpool this summer, but he doesn't appear to be a realistic target, and a different Bundesliga star, who they are close to agreeing personal terms with, may be more attainable...
