Seattle Seahawks backup safety Ty Okada played a key role in his third season by stepping into the starting rotation after injuries to Julian Love and Coby Bryant, setting career highs, and taking advantage of the extended playing time. He totaled 65 tackles, three TFLs, 1.5 sacks, one interception, and six pass deflections across 17 regular-season games, including 11 starts, accounting for 66% of defensive snaps. Okada also added two tackles in the playoffs, though he did not start since Bryant and Love were healthy.

Since Ty Okada spent most of his first two seasons on the practice squad and was on the active roster five times in 2023 and four times in 2024 (less than the six-game minimum threshold), he has only one accrued season, making him an exclusive rights free agent. As an ERFA, a team can offer a player a one-year tender at the league minimum, but they cannot negotiate with other teams or risk sitting out a year. If the Seahawks decline to tender Okada, he will become an unrestricted free agent and can sign with any team.

According to Adam Schefter, the Seahawks have tendered exclusive rights free agents Ty Okada and George Holani. As a result, he has another chance to compete for a spot on the active roster this offseason. Lastly, since Okada is scheduled to be credited with his second accrued season in 2026, he will once again qualify as an ERFA in 2027.
