David Moyes has named an unchanged line-up as Everton seek to end their seven-game winless streak at home. The Blues boss has stuck with the starting XI that beat Newcastle United on Saturday, with several players understood to have overcome fitness concerns in the build-up to the game.

The line-up means Dwight McNeil retains his spot after he made his first appearance since the deadline day collapse of his move to Crystal Palace, and it will be a first start at Hill Dickinson Stadium for Beto since the FA Cup defeat to Sunderland at the beginning of the year.

Everton will start the game in eighth place, just three points off the top seven after the 3-2 success at St James’ Park provided another boost to Moyes’ ambitions of qualifying for Europe after four successive relegation battles.

Crucial to those hopes is finding a way to win at home, something Everton have not done since the 3-0 win over Nottingham Forest at the start of December. The club has lost the past two home fixtures, against Bournemouth and Manchester United.

While Burnley have picked up form in recent weeks – and were unfortunate not to take anything from their 4-3 defeat to Brentford at the weekend – there is an acceptance this match provides a strong opportunity to get back to winning ways at home.

Starting line-up: Pickford; Mykolenko, Branthwaite, Tarkowski, O’Brien; Garner, Gueye; Ndiaye, Dewsbury-Hall, McNeil; Beto

Bench: Travers, Patterson, Keane, Barry, George, Dibling, Rohl, Iroegbunam, Armstrong
