The Seattle Seahawks are enjoying the celebrations that come with being the most recent Super Bowl champion in the NFL. However, the team is already hard at work in their attempt to find a way to repeat as champions when they return to action in 2026, and it has led to them making some big decisions on their roster ahead of free agency.

Easily the biggest move the Seahawks have made as of late saw them decide against placing the franchise tag on the team’s Super Bowl MVP, Kenneth Walker III. However, the front office also made an important decision on wide receiver Jake Bobo‘s future with the team right ahead of free agency.

Bobo didn’t hear his name called in the 2023 NFL Draft, but he still managed to carve out a role for himself with the Seahawks. In 17 games as a rookie, Bobo caught 19 passes for 196 yards and two touchdowns, and it seemed like he could be in line for a bigger role in the offense, but that never ended up materializing.

In 2025, Bobo’s role on offense was practically nonexistent, as he caught just two passes for 20 yards on the year. He did, however, haul in a crucial touchdown in Seattle’s NFC Championship Game victory over the Los Angeles Rams, which eventually helped the team go on to win Super Bowl LX.

Now, Bobo has a Super Bowl ring to his name, but that may end up being the final game he played for the Seahawks in his career. While Bobo was initially set for restricted free agency, Seattle’s front office has decided to non-tender the three-year veteran, meaning he is now scheduled for unrestricted free agency when the market opens next week.

With Klint Kubiak taking over as the Seahawks’ offensive coordinator last season, Bobo simply didn’t have as many snaps available as he once did. And while he did step up and make some clutch plays in the playoffs, Seattle just doesn’t have a need for Bobo anymore, which is likely why it has decided to move on from him.

Bobo could still technically re-sign with the Seahawks, but the fact that he isn’t even getting tendered by the team isn’t a good sign. As a result, Bobo will be allowed to hit the open market and see what options are available to him across the league. If he does leave, it will certainly be tough to see the gritty fan favorite depart, but that’s simply how the business side of the NFL works.
