The Cleveland Browns are looking to add more receiving help this offseason. Whether it's Shedeur Sanders, Deshaun Watson or another quarterback, the Browns need more help on offense.
Typically, going after a wide receiver makes the most sense. But with David Njoku a free agent and likely on his way out, the Browns could turn to another tight end to form a good tight end room again.
Matt Verderame of Sports Illustrated named the Browns as a possible landing spot for future Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. The future Hall of Famer coming to Cleveland would be a very surprising outcome this offseason, but there is a fit.
Browns named as landing spot for Travis Kelce
"Travis Kelce, TE, Chiefs. Projected contract: One year, $10 million," Verderame writes. "Potential landing spots: Chiefs, Browns."
Kelce is a 36-year-old veteran tight end who's been in the NFL for 13 years. He's made 11 Pro Bowls, is a four-time All-Pro and a three-time Super Bowl champion.
In his NFL career, Kelce has 1,080 receptions for 13,002 yards and 82 touchdowns. His 178 playoff receptions are the most all-time, and add on 2,078 receiving yards and 20 touchdowns in the playoffs, and Kelce is easily one of the best tight ends ever.
The Browns finding a way to sign Kelce would be a complete stunner for many reasons. Kelce has played his entire career with the Chiefs, so his leaving for the Browns would be surprising.

While he does have a connection to the Browns from his childhood, signing with Cleveland, a team that's not in a contending window and has some major uncertainty at quarterback, would be a stunner.
The choice between the Chiefs with Patrick Mahomes and a Super Bowl window versus the Browns with Sanders or Watson is an easy one. The Chiefs are the only realistic option.
But Verderame is naming the Browns as one of the other landing spots for Kelce if he hits free agency, and the Chiefs don't elect to bring him back.
That would be hard to believe, as the Chiefs need him going forward. But, if such a scenario did happen, the Browns could be a contender to bring in Kelce for one year to end his Hall of Fame NFL career.
