Liverpool are reportedly looking to re-sign Jarell Quansah in the summer. The England international has been in fine form after leaving Anfield last summer.
According to a report by Sky Germany's Patrick Berger, Quansah has been identified by Liverpool as a player they should re-sign when the window opens. They are looking to add another center-back, despite agreeing a deal with Rennes for Jérémy Jacquet, who has suffered a shoulder injury since the announcement of his summer move to the Merseyside club.
Quansah moved to Bayer Leverkusen last summer for a reported €35 million, as he wanted to play regularly. He was not seen as a player who could break into Arne Slot's starting XI, and the Anfield side were happy to sell him.
However, his 31 appearances for the German side in all competitions have seen him attract interest from the Reds once again. They have an €80 million buy-back clause in his contract and are ready to activate it.
The England star is seen as the replacement for Ibrahima Konate, who has not signed a new deal at the club. The Frenchman has been in contract talks, but has not made progress.
Jarell Quansah left Liverpool for more game time
Jarell Quansah spoke to the media after making his switch to Bayer Leverkusen, saying that he wanted to play regularly. The former Liverpool defender said that he was at a crucial point in his career, and had to make a decision on his future. He said (via ESPN):
"I have been learning from some of the best players around me at the time at Liverpool. Being able to do that has been so good for my career. It has always been a big part of it. At this part of my career, 22 turning 23, [in January] I need hundreds of games to be where I want to be. I think overall that's why the decision was made and why I thought going abroad was best for me."
Quansah was keen on getting an England call-up and added:
"It is not a strange feeling, I'm really delighted to be here. [It is] always a huge honour to get called up and I'm thankful for the manager for that as well. It is always about learning from the senior players who have more caps than I do. Hopefully it is something I will achieve, a cap for England."
Quansah has since made his debut for England, playing against Albania in November 2025.
