Victor Wembanyama will eventually invest in and become a minority shareholder of Nanterre 92, aiming to help his first professional club develop and grow.
San Antonio Spurs star Victor Wembanyama, 22, has revealed to L'Equipe that he plans to become an investor and minority shareholder in Nanterre 92, the French club where he began his basketball journey.

Wembanyama explained that his goal is to help the team he played for from ages 10 to 17 grow and develop.
"I don't remember who approached whom first, but it happened naturally," Wemby said. "Together with Frederic Donnadieu [my first coach at Nanterre], we shared the same vision. I was born and raised in France, and I want to have an impact on French basketball, especially in Nanterre, because that's where I feel at home.
"I will be a shareholder, of course, but this isn't about money right now. Neither my life nor the club's will change overnight because of this involvement."
Wembanyama, a two-time NBA All-Star and the 2024 Rookie of the Year, began his professional career with Nanterre in 2019 after rising through the club's youth system.
He later played for ASVEL and Metropolitans 92 before being selected as the first overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft.
