CHICAGO, Ill., — The Chicago Bears have a big need for a pass rush this offseason, as it continues to be one of their top needs. Finding another pass rusher to complement Montez Sweat is the goal for Ryan Poles and his staff but that's easier said than done.
After the Green Bay Packers went out and landed Micah Parsons in August of 2025, the return of two first-round picks plus Kenny Clark sort of set the price for a player like Maxx Crosby. The Las Vegas Raiders star pass rusher has been in the rumor mill in terms of a potential departure from the Raiders and the Bears continue to be at the center of those rumors.
But if the Bears want to land Crosby, they are likely going to have to pay a hefty amount. Something long the lines of what the Cowboys got for Parsons.
While appearing on "The Pat McAfee Show" on Tuesday, NFL reporter Adam Schefter was asked about the compensation for Maxx Crosby and AJ Brown. He mentioned the Parsons' deal for Crosby.
"I don't expect the price to go down much. We don't know whether the teams are posturing or would be willing to lower the price on either player next week," Schefter said. "I think the Raiders would be prepared to keep Maxx Crosby if they don't get the price they want. They are looking for a Micah Parsons-type of package. Are they going to get that? I don't know. If they don't, then what do they do? Are they willing to come off that price?"
The Bears trading for someone like Crosby is tricky. Chicago still needs to clear cap space to get under the cap number for the new league year. They can do that by releasing or trading someone like Tremaine Edmunds. Would the Raiders be willing to take on Edmunds and/or DJ Moore plus picks in a trade?
Crosby is owed $30M this upcoming season and Poles will already have to get creative to get under the cap number. So there are a few things to work out on the Bears' side for all of this to happen.
One thing I do know is that anytime there's a player like Crosby available, it's worth inquiring about. Especially for a team that has a clear need at the position and can find a solution like this. The Crosby rumors won't be going away anytime soon, so buckle up as the new league year approaches.
