The Maxx Crosby trade buzz continues to intensify. One well-respected NFL insider believes the Chicago Bears could land the 28-year-old.

During a conversation with Conor Orr on The MMQB, Sports Illustrated insider Albert Breer offered one of the strongest predictions yet regarding the Las Vegas Raiders star pass rusher’s future.

When Orr asked which team might make sense as a landing spot, Breer didn’t hesitate.

“Chicago. Chicago would be great. The idea, Chicago would make the most sense to me,” Breer added.

Some thoughts of a potential Maxx Crosby trade by @Breer 👀 #Bears – “I think they will trade him.” – “A one and then some” (cost) – “Chicago… Chicago” (his pick)

The reasoning behind that answer was just as notable.

“They’ve been looking for an edge rusher,” Breer said. “They’ve got Montez Sweat on the other side. They were in the divisional round last year. They went toe-to-toe with the Rams. That’s a team that’s in the position to punch the accelerator and go for it.”

Additionally, Breer mentioned the Raiders potential decision to trade him:

“I think they will trade him,” Breer said when discussing Crosby’s situation.

Breer also made it clear that acquiring the five-time Pro Bowler would not come cheap.

“To be in would have to be a one and then some,” Breer explained. “It would have to be a first-round pick and then something else.”

Bears Emerging as Favorites for Maxx Crosby

The latest comments from Breer arrive as the Bears continue to gain traction as one of the most logical landing spots if the Raiders ultimately decide to move Crosby.

According to recent betting odds from DraftKings Sportsbook, Chicago has emerged as the current favorite to acquire the All-Pro pass rusher. The Bears sit ahead of a group of contenders that includes the Buffalo Bills, Dallas Cowboys, Philadelphia Eagles, Baltimore Ravens and Los Angeles Rams.

As Breer said, the connection makes sense from a roster standpoint.

Chicago has been actively looking to strengthen its pass rush, and pairing Crosby with Montez Sweat would instantly give the Bears one of the most dangerous edge duos in the NFL.

The Bears’ playoff push last season only adds to the argument that general manager Ryan Poles could justify making an aggressive move that changes the direction of the franchise.

Breer’s comments about Chicago being in position to “punch the accelerator” only reinforced the idea that the Bears could be one of the teams willing to go “all in” and explore a blockbuster deal.

Raiders Will Demand Massive Trade Package From Bears

While the speculation around Chicago continues to grow, Breer’s comments also highlighted the potential obstacle standing in the way of any trade.

The Raiders are unlikely to move a player of Crosby’s caliber without a significant return.

“To be in would have to be a one and then some,” Breer reiterated.

Crosby remains one of the NFL’s most dominant pass rushers and is coming off another double-digit sack season. He has made the Pro Bowl in five consecutive seasons and remains the centerpiece of the Raiders’ defense.

Because of that production, Las Vegas could demand a massive package that includes at least a first-round pick and additional assets.

Still, if Breer’s prediction proves accurate and the Raiders ultimately decide to move their franchise pass rusher, the Bears appear to be the team to watch to make a serious push.
