For weeks, Green Bay Packers quarterback Malik Willis has been one of the most talked-about names regarding NFL free agency. As the new league year approaches on March 11, there are more and more rumblings about which team he could end up signing with.
Of course, he is not going to return to Green Bay. He is widely considered the best quarterback on the upcoming market, and is going to get a shot to be a starter somewhere else. Additionally, that opportunity is projected to come with a salary of around $25-30 million a year.
And while the Miami Dolphins have long been considered a favorite landing spot by many, a recent development down in the desert may have changed that.
The Arizona Cardinals could pursue Green Bay Packers QB Malik Willis after releasing Kyler Murray

In a shocking development, the Arizona Cardinals have informed their former number one overall pick, Kyler Murray, that they are going to release him at the start of the new league year:

Murray is has a $54 million dead cap hit in 2026, but that will go done to just over $7 million in 2027. Clearly, Arizona was ready to move on.
Now that they do not have a starting quarterback, Willis could now become their top option, and they could very well be his. Mike LaFleur, their head coach, is the brother of the Packers’ coach and Nathaniel Hackett is the Cardinals offensive coordinator.
What is more, Jon Eric-Sullivan, the former Green Bay executive who is now the Miami Dolphins general manager, said that he does foresee his team spending much money in free agency.
That statement, unless it is a smokescreen, could mean Willis is not part of their free agency plans.
Arizona, though, is very much in play now.
