Everton player ratings vs Burnley, 9/10 unsung hero outshines Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall

Everton have ended their Hill Dickinson Stadium curse by beating Burnley through goals from James Tarkowski and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.

David Moyes will be delighted to have seen Everton secure their first home win since early December.

It was a night of positives at the Hill Dickinson Stadium as Tarkowski and Dewsbury-Hall sealed the Blues all three points in a dominant display.

The three points have not taken Everton up the table, but the Toffees have put pressure on the fight for the European spots.

Jordan Pickford – 7

Ultimately had very little to do. Jordan Pickford’s only real involvement came in the very last moments with another stunning save.

What impressed you most about that win against Burnley? 👏

Jake O’Brien – 6

Considering how dominant Everton were, it was a very quiet evening for Jake O’Brien.

James Tarkowski – 8

Didn’t hold back with his celebration against his former club. Tarkowski opened the scoring with another set piece goal from an Everton defender.

It was the centre-back’s first goal since that equaliser against Liverpool at Goodison Park.

Jarrad Branthwaite – 8

Almost made it back-to-back games with a goal. Everton are looking like a real threat from set pieces and having Jarrad Branthwaite in the mix is a big boost.

Moyes claimed Branthwaite was comfortable at left-back, but the 23-year-old looks considerably better in his natural central role.

Vitalii Mykolenko – 6

Did not offer a lot going forward. Played a poor back pass that could have proved costly, otherwise was solid at the back.

James Garner – 9

A sensational delivery from a free-kick to provide Everton with the key needed to unlock a resolute Burnley defence.

The consistency being shown by Garner simply cannot be underestimated. He is quality.

Idrissa Gana Gueye – 7

Failed to play Iliman Ndiaye in quick enough before Burnley stepped up to play the Senegalese winger offside and deny him of a goal.

Dwight McNeil – 8

He is cementing his spot in the starting XI following another fine showing on the wing.

Dwight McNeil was involved in yet another Everton goal, with his touch keeping the move alive for Dewsbury-Hall’s goal.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall – 8

A delightful finish to double Everton’s lead. Dewsbury-Hall is looking to impress the England manager, Thomas Tuchel, and he certainly will have done so against Burnley.

Iliman Ndiaye – 8

A real live-wire throughout the game at the Hill Dickinson Stadium. Deserved a goal for his performance, but will have to settle for an assist.

Beto – 6

Did not get his moment in front of goal. Offered a focal point up top, but was not a huge threat to the Burnley backline.
