Liverpool once again threw away Premier League points, falling to another late defeat against bottom-of-the-league Wolves.
It was as poor a first half as we have seen from Liverpool this season, though it feels like I’m saying that a lot these days. It doesn’t even bear writing about.
The second half started better, but the Reds still couldn’t find a way through. The home side stole a lead in the 78th minute, but Mohamed Salah pounced on a defensive mistake to level the tie just five minutes later.
Whose performance concerned you the most against Wolves?
Some utterly abject displays

But it ended with an all-too-familiar feeling — a deflected strike in the 94th-minute giving Wolves the win at the death. 2-1…
Liverpool player ratings vs Wolves
Alisson Becker – 5
Could not do much about either goal, and was not busy otherwise.
Jeremie Frimpong – 7
I love watching Frimpong play. His pace and wide threat have been sorely missed during his absence, and his impact on the side upon returning was immediate. Liverpool’s most dangerous attacker for large parts of the tie, he was predictably subbed off with Slot having emphasised the need to manage his minutes.
Ibrahima Konate – 5
Wolves caused Konate few issues, yet they scored twice. Not sure how to assess that.
MORE LIVERPOOL STORIES
Virgil van Dijk – 4
For all the talk of Van Dijk’s greatness in recent days, he was far from it against Wolves. He was eased off the ball by Tolu Arokodare in the leadup to Wolves’ goal, the only real situation they had to deal with all evening.
Milos Kerkez – 5

Have no real notes about Kerkez. Handled Mateus Mane well but not convinced by him and Cody Gakpo.
Ryan Gravenberch – 4
Gravenberch’s struggles continue. He was hooked at the break after being booked, but the Dutchman’s time on the pitch was marked by the same loose passing and lack of sharpness that have become a feature of his game in recent weeks.
Alexis Mac Allister – 6
A rare bright spark for the Reds, Mac Allister was combative and showed more heart than many of those in a red shirt.
Dominik Szoboszlai – 6
In the pre-match coverage, Gerrard encouraged Szoboszlai to get amongst the goals more. He didn’t get close on this occasion, and even assumed a deeper role when Curtis Jones was introduced.

Mohamed Salah – 5
Coming into this game, Salah’s longest Premier League goal drought of his career was all anyone could talk about. Well, it finally came to an end with ten minutes left to play — a well-taken solo effort and hopefully a catalyst for a turnaround in form.
Cody Gakpo – 5
Fairly or no, Gakpo has been the recipient of much of the blame when Liverpool’s attack struggles. Something he does deserve blame for is poking the ball from off of Curtis Jones’ chest to prevent a certain goal. He was taken off in the 65th minute after a quiet outing.
Hugo Ekitike – 5
The Frenchman looked sharper than most of his teammates in the first half. Liverpool fans praised Ekitike’s transitional play. On the whole, not his best but not as bad as some of his teammates.
How many goals will Hugo Ekitike end up with this season?
He's surely heading past 20

Curtis Jones – 5
Jones was robbed of an early goal after his introduction, and didn’t impact the game as he would have hoped.
Rio Ngumoha – 6
Ngumoha got a longer run than usual against Wolves, coming on just after the hour mark. He came painfully close to equalising but for a stunning save from Jose Sa. The calls for him to start are only going to get louder.
Andy Robertson – 5
Nothing bad to say about Robertson’s performance.
Joe Gomez – 5
So unlucky with the deflection.
Not the most detailed player ratings, but there really wasn’t a lot to say. Speechless, one might say.
