Liverpool missed the chance to close the gap on the top four with yet another dramatic defeat, this time at rock-bottom Wolves on Tuesday evening. The Reds thought they had claimed a point when Mohamed Salah struck five minutes after the opener from substitute Rodrigo Gomes, only for Andre's injury-time shot to deflect in off Joe Gomez.
The result means Arne Slot's side remain in fifth place after a third defeat in 22 games in all competitions.
The ECHO was in attendance at Molineux and here we run the rule over the performance of the Liverpool players.
Alisson Becker 6
Caught the ball a few times during quiet first half. Similar story second half until beaten by good Rodrigo Gomes finish and the deflected winner.
Jeremie Frimpong 6
Unable to show his pace before interval and one shot horribly off target. Started to tire second half. Subbed.
Ibrahima Konate 6
Defended on the front foot and ensured Alisson had little to do for the most part but couldn't get back quickly enough for Wolves first. Subbed.
Virgil van Dijk 5
Sauntered through much of the game without too much difficulty but was beaten by Arokodare for the Wolves opener. Sent good header at Sa in injury time.
Milos Kerkez 6
Some difficult moments before break up against speedy Mane but stuck to task and raided forward when he could. Subbed.
Ryan Gravenberch 5
Far too loose with some of his passes and well off the pace, and could have been booked before he actually was. Subbed.
Alexis Mac Allister 6
Won the ball high up for Liverpool on several occasions and lively presence in midfield first half but not quite as effective after that.
Mohamed Salah 5
Hounded out for one admittedly difficult chance early on but too often ran down dead ends or made wrong choice. Did well to end his goal drought, however, with a good finish.
Dominik Szoboszlai 6
Not quite as influential as of late but one shot from range at Sa and brought some drive to Liverpool midfield.
Cody Gakpo 5
Struck early shot on target and at least appeared willing to run at the Wolves defence and caused a few problems cutting inside. Subbed.
Hugo Ekitike 5
One brilliant run from inside his half created chance but otherwise left his centre forward station too often. Low cross did cause issue second half, though.
Curtis Jones (for Gravenberch 46) 5
Should really have scored from close range at start of second half.
Andy Robertson (for Kerkez 65) 5
Didn't really have much of an impact.
Rio Ngumoha (for Gakpo 65) 6
In and out but so close with one effort that Sa tipped on to post.
Joe Gomez (for Frimpong 72) 5
Unlucky to deflect Andre shot into his own net.
Federico Chiesa (for Konate 79) 5
Had a shot at Sa at the end.
