Flagg (foot) will not play for the Mavs against the Hornets on Wednesday.
Unfortunately, the second showdown between two of the best rookies this season will not happen.
Dallas Mavericks / Schedule
The Dallas Mavericks announced Tuesday that Cooper Flagg (foot) will not play on Wednesday against the Charlotte Hornets.
This would mark the eighth consecutive absence of Flagg for Dallas, as he continues to deal with a nagging left mid-foot sprain.
It is indeed an unfortunate development, considering that the Rookie of the Year competition is intensifying between the Dallas sensation and Kon Knueppel at this critical final stretch of the regular season.
In his first NBA season, Flagg is averaging 20.4 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 4.1 assists in 49 games. But the Hornets' rising star is relatively healthy and delivering a historic shooting campaign with 19.3 points at a 44 percent three-point rate with 5.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists in 60 appearances.
With Flagg still out, the Mavs will look at Caleb Martin, Brandon Williams and Khris Middleton for increased production.
