In the history of wild takes about the Baltimore Ravens and 2-time NFL MVP quarterback Lamar Jackson, this one belongs in the Hall of Fame.

ESPN analyst and former NFL defensive back Ryan Clark went all in on the Ravens’ Super Bowl chances in an old take that resurfaced on Tuesday, declaring former No. 1 overall pick Kyler Murray as the better option to win it all over Jackson.

“If Kyler Murray, right now, was the quarterback of the Baltimore Ravens, we would have much more confidence in them to win the Super Bowl, period,” Clark said in 2020. ” … if the Kyler Murray is the quarterback of this team, you see them going head-to-head with the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Championship Game and winning the Super Bowl. This isn’t a knock on Lamar, you just have to make choices sometimes. Sometimes you have to choose between Kobe or Shaq or Penny or Shaq. If you were starting your team, Kyler Murray would be your guy.”

Clark’s freezing cold take came into sharper focus on Tuesday as news broke that the Cardinals planned to release Murray, which will allow him to play for another team for the league minimum as Arizona takes on an estimated $50 million dead cap hit in 2026.

“Yikes: Ryan Clark believes that the Ravens would have a better chance at winning the Super Bowl with Kyler Murray over Lamar Jackson,” NFL influencer Dov Kleiman wrote on X. “One of the WORST takes of all time.”

NFL fans were quick to point out that while Jackson is a 2-time NFL MVP, both Murray and Jackson are very similar in 1 aspect — their lack of postseason success.

“Lamar sucks in the playoffs but Kyler can’t even get to the playoffs,” Baby Dom Rants wrote on its official X account. “Both aren’t winners.”
