Virgil van Dijk says Liverpool were ‘slow and predictable’ in loss to Wolves

**Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk says his side were too slow, predictable and sloppy in their defeat to bottom club Wolves.**

Arne Slot’s side were beaten 2-1 at Molineux, with Andre scoring a deflected winner after Mo Salah had equalised following Rodrigo Gomes’ opener.

“I think it’s down to ourselves,” van Dijk said on the defeat.

“We were slow, we were predictable, sloppy in possession, wrong decision making.

“We didn’t concede chances but if you perform like that then a result like this can be as a result of that.”

The defeat comes as a blow to Liverpool’s Champions League qualification hopes and van Dijk says big improvements are needed if they are to qualify.

“All season has not been easy,” he said. “It was always going to be an up and down season for multiple reasons and the league is strong.

“We need everyone at their best. We need a big squad in that sense and we need results.

“The last couple of weeks we’ve had results and today we didn’t.

“We still have work to do. That’s pretty obvious.”
