“I Might Not Leave College”: AJ Dybantsa Fuels Buzz About Returning To BYU

PROVO, Utah – Could BYU men’s basketball sensation AJ Dybantsa really return to Provo for a second season—despite being widely projected as a top pick in the 2026 NBA Draft?

Asked about the possibility of being the No. 1 pick this summer, Dybantsa suggested he may not be so quick to leave school in a recent appearance on the Deseret Voices podcast.

“I might not leave,” the Naismith Player of the Year candidate said with a shy grin. “I might not leave college.”

The comment immediately fuels hope among Cougar fans, who have embraced the 6-foot-9 standout since he arrived on campus. But Dybantsa made it clear that the decision isn’t simple.
