Xavier Johns Mason wrapped up another season of football at Independence Community College 15 months ago.
The defensive lineman from Phoenix spent two seasons at Independence, but sat out the 2023 season. In 2024, Mason recorded six tackles and a sack in four games for the 3-8 Pirates.
Mason transferred to Northwestern Oklahoma State and didn't see the field this past fall before he enrolled at Oklahoma State as a student for this spring semester.

The Cowboys held walk-on tryouts the last week of February, open to any and all Oklahoma State students. The 6-foot lineman showed up and felt confident heading into the workout.
