Victor Wembanyama earns major feat no other player ever achieved in NBA history

The San Antonio superstar became the first player in NBA history to win both Player of the Month and Defensive Player of the Month in the same month.

Victor Wembanyama has completely owned the NBA for February.

San Antonio Spurs / Schedule

The NBA announced Tuesday that Wembanyama has been named the Western Conference Player of the Month, averaging 22.5 points, 11.3 rebounds and 3.5 blocks to lead the San Antonio Spurs to a flawless 11-0 record.

Apparently, the French phenom was also celebrated as the Defensive Player of the Month due to his league-leading blocks statistic, along with ranked No. 2 defensive rebounding averages per game (9.3) and impact on San Antonio's top-notch defensive rating (106.2).

Out of winning both Player and Defensive honors this month, Wembanyama has made a compelling history by becoming just the first player in the Association to win both awards in the same month.

Although the NBA Defensive Player of the Month award was just introduced at the start of the 2024–25 season, Wembanyama's latest feat just highlights his sheer dominance on both ends of the court. And, certainly, this past month won't only be the one he would win both Player and Defensive nods in the future.

This season, Wembanyama is averaging 23.7 points, 11.2 rebounds, 2.9 assists and a league-leading 2.9 blocks, leading the Spurs to a 44-17 record.
