Keenan Allen intends on returning to the Chargers in free agency this offseason

The Buffalo Bills are entering a critical offseason, and one of the key moves they need to make is finding a true No. 1 wide receiver.

Buffalo hasn’t had a legitimate No. 1 receiver since trading Stefon Diggs to the Houston Texans in 2024, a role he held from 2020 to 2023.

If the Bills are searching for a true No. 1 wide receiver, they may need to consider trading for someone like A.J. Brown from the Philadelphia Eagles.

Even if the Bills manage to acquire a player like Brown, they will likely need to bring in another veteran wide receiver to bolster theoffense.

Bills Urged to Sign Keenan Allen

According to Alex Brasky from Sports Illustrated, the Billsshould consider pursuing veteran free agent wide receiver Keenan Allen to enhance their attack.

“Allen is 33 years old, so by no means is he a spring chicken. With that said, he was productive for the Chargers this past season, recording 777 yards receiving and four touchdowns,” Brasky wrote on Tuesday. “The 6-foot-2, 210-pound target’s yardage total was second on the team behind Ladd McConkey and would have led all Bills’ pass catchers during the ’25 season.

“The old-timer is not a premier deep threat, which the Bills will be seeking this offseason. However, he can play outside, and his extensive experience as a slot receiver would allow Shakir to move about the formation and become a more versatile pass catcher, which Bills head coach Joe Brady has professed is the plan this season.”

Allen has been in the NFL since 2013, playing 12 seasons with the Chargers and one season with the Chicago Bears.

In 171 games, Allen has accumulated 12,051 receiving yards and scored 70 touchdowns while earning six Pro Bowl selections.

Allen could bring great veteran leadership to the Bills, who are looking to add more leaders to the roster.

One thing Allen lacks is experience; he has never been to a Super Bowl. While it’s not the end of the world that Allen hasn’t made it to the big game, the Bills are likely looking to bring in players with Super Bowl experience. Since they are aiming to reach that championship level themselves, they need leadership along the way.

Buffalo Could goFor MikeEvans

One player who might excel in that role even more than Allen is Mike Evans, the talented wide receiver for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Evans is set to enter the free agent market next week, and it seems unlikely that he will be making his way back to Tampa Bay.

The Bills might heavily rely on Evans, as he could bring valuable Super Bowl experience to Buffalo. Evans was part of the Buccaneers team that clinched the Super Bowl in the 2020-21 season. Although it’s been a few years since he last played in the Super Bowl, he still could bring his leadership to Buffalo.

It will be interesting to see how the Bills manage their key players this offseason and which new additions they’ll bring in to strengthen the roster.
