Bengals Rumored to Have ‘Zero Interest’ in Keeping Star Player

The Cincinnati Bengals may be preparing for a significant defensive change as the offseason approaches. Rumors circulating around the league suggest the team has little interest in retaining star defensive end Trey Hendrickson.

Hendrickson has been a cornerstone of Cincinnati’s pass rush since arriving with the franchise, consistently applying pressure on opposing quarterbacks. His production helped anchor the Bengals’ defensive front during several competitive seasons and made him one of the more recognizable defenders on the roster.

Despite that success, reports from league circles indicate the relationship between Hendrickson and the organization may have cooled in recent months. The situation has fueled speculation that Cincinnati could allow the veteran pass rusher to depart rather than committing to a new long-term deal.

The Bengals face several roster decisions as they attempt to balance financial flexibility with maintaining a competitive core. Moving on from Hendrickson could free resources for other priorities, though replacing his production would present a difficult challenge for the coaching staff.

Hendrickson may not be playing for Cincinnati before the offseason ends. This is detailed more in a report by Matthew Berry for NBC Sports.

This is usually a fantasy football column, but couple of defensive player rumors I just found interesting, starting with the Bengals having zero interest in keeping Trey Hendrickson. They may make some noises about keeping him for PR purposes but there is no love lost between the two sides, and he’ll be playing elsewhere next year. Also, don’t be surprised if Minnesota moves on from Jonathan Allen, and I was told Denver’s John Franklin-Myers would be heading to Tennessee.

Around the league, Hendrickson’s availability would almost certainly draw interest from teams seeking pass-rushing help. Edge defenders capable of disrupting quarterbacks remain among the most valuable assets in modern defenses, particularly for contenders looking to strengthen their front seven.

If the rumors prove accurate, the Bengals could soon enter a new chapter on defense without one of their most impactful players. Hendrickson’s next destination may ultimately reshape the pass-rushing landscape as the offseason market begins to take form.
