Travis Kelce is expected to make final decision on retirement this week.

The clock is ticking on Travis Kelce’s decision on whether to return to play for the Kansas City Chiefs or retire from the NFL.

Out of respect for the Chiefs, Kelce promised to make his decision before free agency starts on March 11. The Chiefs, however, can officially start negotiating with pending free agents like Kelce on March 9. Therefore, an announcement from the 11-time Pro Bowler is expected this week.

“Do the Kansas City Chiefs need a tight end? The future of Travis Kelce [is] still very much up in the air,” NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported on March 2. “

Obviously, there’s plenty of discussion. General manager Brett Veach talking to reporters, saying they really wanted to allow Travis Kelce to go through the process to make absolutely sure he’s going to return for the 2026 season.

“As of right now, that has not been fully determined. There has been some discussion about a potential contract… But they want to make sure when there is a decision, he is 1,000% all in. This week, we should have some answers from Kansas City. What we know is they for sure want him back, especially considering how he played last year.”

While Chiefs Kingdom waits for an answer, Kelce made a surprise appearance in Florida.

Travis Kelce Caught Up With Tiger Woods at TGL

The 36-year-old tight end surprised fans by joining his older brother, Jason Kelce, at Tomorrow’s Gold League (TTGL) at the Sofi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, on March 3. Photos and video of Travis chatting it up with golf legend and TGL co-owner Tiger Woods immediately drew attention.

Jason, retired Philadelphia Eagles center turned ESPN analyst, is at the tech-infused tournament as a special guest commentator. The brothers spoke about the possibility of Travis joining him at TGL on an episode of their “New Heights” podcast last week.

“Thankfully (TGL) is a part of ESPN, so I get to go down there and work,” Jason said.

“Nice man, do you get a plus one?” Travis asked.

“Yes, I would love to have you if you’re willing to come down,” Jason responded.

“Yeaaaahhhh,” Travis replied, after noting how he always wanted to go.

Travis’ appearance still caught fans by surprise. One fan commented on Instagram, “WOW! NO WAYYYYY!” Another person wrote, “Living life to the fullest. 💯.”

Travis is leaning on his inner circle, which includes fiancée Taylor Swift, as he contemplates his future in the NFL. After the Chiefs failed to reach the postseason for the first time in a decade, Kelce spoke about returning for what would be his 14th season in the league.

“It’s a tough way to go out, especially with the amount of success and the standard that you hold,” Travis told Jason on the January 7 episode of “New Heights.”

“If my body can heal up and rest up and I can feel confident that I can go out there and give it another 18, 20, 21-week run, I would do it in a heartbeat,” the four-time First-Team All-Pro continued. “I’m just trying to figure it all out myself and I’ll do that with the family and friends.”
