James Tarkowski nodded Everton in front, before Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall scored in the second-half to seal the win.

Dewsbury-Hall now has six goals for the Toffees in his first season, which is a good return, as well as five assists.

It’s clear he is one of the most influential players in the team, and Lescott feels David Moyes’ use of him positionally is helping him to shine.

Speaking on TNT Sports after the game, Lescott said of Dewsbury-Hall: “He’s probably playing him more advanced. I think for Leicester and Chelsea he played a less advanced role.

“His ability and his quality has shown, and his timing… I think that is key. His timing to run into the box. there was a game here when he showed great composure, and a great touch.

“But the ability to recognise when to run, the timing of it, to get in there, is so important and underestimated.”

Dewsbury-Hall can fire Everton to Europe

Given that Thierno Barry and Beto are not prolific, it is vital that Everton have other goal sources in this team.

And Dewsbury-Hall is definitely that, and he continues to thrive as the most advanced midfield player.

Everton lost output recently with the injury to Jack Grealish.

But thankfully, Dewsbury-Hall is stepping up, and there appears to be no lasting damage from his injury which is excellent news.

It is paramount that Everton keep him fit and available.

The Toffees have given themselves a great opportunity to play European football next season, and the form of Dewsbury-Hall is going to be crucial in the coming weeks.
