“He didn’t want to run back” – Former Blue Carlton Cole calls Chelsea player “lazy”

Former Chelsea striker Carlton Cole has called current Blues winger ‘lazy’ after watching him in the Arsenal defeat on Sunday.

Chelsea lost 2-1 away from home in the Premier League match, allowing Arsenal to surge in to their title challenge this season. It was a very frustrating game for many reasons, especially some of the officiating.

But one decision the Ref didn’t really have any choice in was the sending off for Pedro Neto. The Chelsea winger was just plain stupid in these moments and had nothing to argue about really, even though he did argue, for quite a long time!

But former Chelsea ‘Cole’s’ Joe and Carlton have been debating the second yellow card on a Podcast this week, and they have been in a bit of a disagreement over it.

On The Dressing Room podcast, Joe Cole thought Neto’s tackle was one normally accustomed to an attacking player but Carlton Cole disagreed with his old Chelsea teammate, suggesting it was laziness.

Joe Cole said: “It was the tackle of a winger, and a tackle of someone who was frustrated because he got outpaced,” to which Carlton Cole replied: “I think it’s worse, I think you’re giving him grace.

“I think it was laziness. It was lazy. He knew he had to run some yards back. I also think he’s forgotten he’s on a yellow because it’s happened so soon. But he made a decision because he didn’t want to run back.”
