Liverpool’s Dutch trio fail to average 5/10 rating – but nobody gets over 6/10

Ryan Gravenberch was a “walking red card” and Cody Gakpo was poor yet again, as Liverpool’s players floundered in their 2-1 defeat away to Wolves.

The Reds’ Champions League hopes were dented after a limp performance at Molineux on Tuesday night, with few redeeming features on show.

Here we compare our player ratings with those of the Liverpool Echo, GOAL and the TIA readers.

Gravenberch (3.88) got the worst average rating for Liverpool, as his below-par season continues.

The midfielder was hooked at half-time by Arne Slot after a first-half performance riddled with fouls and a booking.

Writing for This Is Anfield, Henry Jackson described Gravenberch as a “walking red card,” while GOAL’s Mark Doyle said he was “unsurprisingly replaced” by Curtis Jones.

Gakpo (3.98) didn’t fare much better for Liverpool, producing another painfully predictable display.

Even captain Virgil van Dijk (4.65) was among the Reds’ three worst players, sealing a terrible night for the Dutch contingent.

The Echo‘s Ian Doyle gave the 34-year-old the lowest score out of Liverpool’s defenders, saying he was “beaten” too easily in the lead-up to Rodrigo Gomes’ goal.

Rio Ngumoha received the highest rating from This Is Anfield‘s readers (4.7), which sums it up!

What the stats say

According to FotMob, Alisson was Liverpool’s weak link on the night, getting only a 5.3 rating.

The Brazilian conceded twice and produced a poor clearance before the winning goal, also completing only 50 percent of his long balls (2/4).

Hugo Ekitike (3/10) and Mohamed Salah (4/11) won only 30 and 36 percent of their ground duels, respectively, with neither offering enough fight and quality.

But Dominik Szoboszlai was his usual hard-working self, making 13 defensive contributions, which was more than any Liverpool player.
