Arne Slot has said Liverpool's 2-1 defeat at Wolves 'sums up our season' after a late loss at Molineux.
Liverpool were beaten by the Premier League's bottom side in a significant setback to the club's hopes of Champions League football.
After scoring five goals against West Ham at the weekend, the Reds lacked ideas in the final third at Wolves and struggled to create clear-cut chances.
Wolves went in front when Rodrigo Gomes lifted a finish over Alisson on 78 minutes, but Liverpool hit back almost immediately to level through Mohamed Salah five minutes later.
However, the visitors were undone in stoppage time, when Andre's effort took a wicked deflection off Joe Gomez to deceive Alisson.
The victory was just Wolves' third win of the Premier League campaign, while it was the first time in nine years that the division's bottom team had beaten the champions.
The concerns continue for Slot after a fifth defeat of the season decided by a goal scored in the 90th minute or later, a record for a team in a single Premier League campaign.
"Same old story. Recently, we are picking up points because many times we’ve scored from set-pieces, but what did not change in the last five, six or seven games is that we struggle and find it very hard to score from the open-play chances that we do create," Slot said in his post-game press conference.
"Not as many as I would like from all the ball possession we have, but enough and far more than the other team. But, end result, we score one and they score two – and indeed another time in extra time, so it sums up our season again in this game as well.
"What I mean with ‘it sums up the season’ is that that we’ve had far more ball possession than the other team, we’ve created more open-play and in-general chances than the other team, but from open play we struggle to score."
