After reports came out of Filipe Luis’ sacking from Flamengo, it quickly emerged that Chelsea may have played a role in his shock departure.
Despite boasting an excellent record, the former defender, who led his side to a win over the Blues in the Club World Cup, has departed his role just four games into the new season.
Are you convinced by Rosenior yet, Chelsea fans?
His start is almost as good as Jose's!
Negotiations between BlueCo and Filipe Luis led to him being sacked by Flamengo
Luis was linked to the Chelsea job when Enzo Maresca departed the club, and according to UOL, the Blues were in discussion with their former player, although not for the job he thought.
The report goes on to say that the Blues were lining up the Brazilian for the role at Strasbourg to replace the incoming Liam Rosenior.

The food chain BlueCo have developed with their sister club has been very obvious with players on the pitch. Andrey Santos and Mamadou Sarr have developed their skills in France to be ready to contribute at Stamford Bridge.
Doing this with managers puts Chelsea in a risky position though. It will be a real struggle to keep the big names attracted to the project if they have to work their way for the big job.
Chelsea risk alienating top managerial candidates with Strasbourg plan
When the Blues were looking to replace Maresca, they were linked with a number of Premier League managers, including Oliver Glasner and Andoni Iraola.
It is simply not in the ambition of any candidate like this to go to Strasbourg, especially if jobs crop up at Manchester City and Manchester United in the near future.

This can be shown by who Strasbourg ended up hiring to replace Rosenior. Gary O’Neil is currently in charge of the Ligue 1 side.
Despite his excellent start to life in France, his most recent Premier League experience came with Wolves, and on paper does not have the CV that Chelsea will be looking for.

Liam Rosenior safe at Chelsea, for now
It remains to be seen where Luis goes next, however the promising signs he has shown already in his managerial career suggests he won’t be out of the game for long.
Chelsea may have burned that bridge for now, but are risking doing the same to any future candidates should they look to replace Rosenior in the future.
There is no indication yet that the Englishman is in danger in West London, but he will be well aware that delivering Champions League football is seen as the minimum requirement from this season.
