Sarr, 27, has played parts of three NBA seasons with the Oklahoma City Thunder (2021-2024), appearing in 46 games and averaging 4.8 points and 3.5 rebounds in 13.8 minutes per contest. Despite limited NBA opportunities, he has been a consistent contributor in the G League.
Last fall, he joined the Toronto Raptors training camp roster but was waived before the regular season.
He then played for Raptors 905, Toronto's G League affiliate, posting 11.2 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks in 23.7 minutes across 39 games this season.
Cleveland plans to use Sarr mainly through their G League affiliate, the Cleveland Charge, while keeping him available as emergency depth behind their established center rotation of Jarrett Allen, Evan Mobley, and Thomas Bryant.
