Opinion: David Moyes must be baffled as PGMOL make a mockery of Everton ban during Wolves vs…

Everton manager David Moyes will feel some injustice after Rob Edwards escaped a booking for his celebration on Tuesday evening against Liverpool.

Inconsistent decisions from the referees are causing a lot of frustration across the Premier League currently.

It was just a matter of weeks ago when Moyes was handed a yellow card and a touchline ban for celebrating Everton’s equaliser against Brighton & Hove Albion.

Yet, on Tuesday evening, Wolves boss Edwards escaped the same punishment despite his extravagant celebration at Molineux.

Rob Edwards escapes David Moyes punishment after his Everton celebration

On the back of Wolves dramatic win over the Reds, Everton sit just five points off Liverpool in the Premier League table.

After Andre scored a late winner for Wolves, Edwards took off in celebration and ran to the stand behind the goal to join the fans.

Despite taking off around 50 yards down the pitch, the Wolves manager did not receive a yellow card.

Ultimately, this is what fans want to see and there should not be any penalty for this type of celebration from the manager.

However, all fans are asking for is some consistency from those who officiate the game.

Moyes hit back at Chris Kavanagh for handing out the yellow card as he admitted he’d happily do it again in the future.

It would now seem as if the Everton boss would have a real argument to make if he was to be booked again for his celebrations after seeing what Edwards got away with.

David Moyes would have enjoyed Edwards’ celebration but not Premier League inconsistency

Moyes will not have had anything against the way Edwards celebrated the massive goal that saw Wolves secure an unlikely win over Liverpool.

“We’re killing it [the game]. The managers can’t come out of their technical area to celebrate a goal, knee sliding, do things which give you people [the media] quite a bit to talk about,” Moyes said back in January.

It does just shed more light on the inconsistencies across the officiating in the Premier League, though.

There is a lot of frustration surrounding on-field decisions, but punishments for things like a manager’s celebrations feel so unnecessary.
