James Garner brought up a Premier League milestone during Everton’s 2-0 win against Burnley.
David Moyes‘ side took a step closer to securing a shock European spot after cruising to all three points at Hill Dickinson Stadium on Tuesday night.
James Tarkowski made the breakthrough with a thumping first-half header before Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall wrapped up the victory with a cool finish on the hour mark.
But it was Garner who pulled all of the strings from midfield in another outstanding display.

The 24-year-old created five chances for his team-mates, his highest-ever tally in a Premier League match, and chalked up an assist when Tarkowski headed in his devilish corner kick.
But he wasn’t done there. Indeed, his delivery for the opening goal meant he has now provided an assist in back-to-back matches for the first time in his top-flight career.
Fresh from Everton’s first home win in almost three months, Moyes was once again impressed with Garner’s performance, declaring: “Jimmy Garner has been great all season.”

However, the former Manchester United man’s ability should not be taken for granted.
Why Garner deserves much more credit
It is mind-boggling that Garner still drops under the radar in the eyes of too many pundits and punters.
He is statistically one of the best midfielders in the Premier League, and his display against Burnley showcased exactly what he is about: versatility and cutting edge.
Garner made 11 penalty area entries and completed 63 passes at Hill Dickinson Stadium, and was deservedly in contention for the man of the match award.
According to the Sofascore graphic below, he has been consistent all season, scoring two goals and registering five assists, earning him a 7.29 average rating.

Nottingham Forest maestro Elliot Anderson still steals the headlines despite Garner matching him in most metrics and even exceeding him in others.
Simply, there is a reason Manchester United are said to be eyeing up a return, but Everton must do all they can to protect his long-term future.
