Manchester City are now showing an interest in Borussia Dortmund midfielder Felix Nmecha, joining the tussle for the 25-year-old alongside Chelsea and Manchester United.

That’s according to BILD. The German newspaper covers the Dortmund midfielder today and Manchester City joining the potential battle for him.

According to their information, there is ‘growing interest’ in Nmecha from England. His decision to sign with the English agency ‘The Talent Table’ has helped on that front.

Chelsea have had the Dortmund star on their radar for some time. As too have Manchester United. Sport Witness have covered both of their interests for some time.

A report last year stated that Manchester United in particular were closely monitoring the midfielder.

Chelsea and Manchester United

They have been doing so for some time, with a report in December 2024 also putting Chelsea into the mix. No move has happened yet, but this summer could be the big one.

Now, according to BILD, Manchester City have also ‘entered the race’. In fact, Pep Guardiola’s side have already made contact with the player’s new agency. The nature of this contact isn’t made clear.

On the face of it, a big move would make little sense. Manchester City already have an abundance of central midfielders at their disposal. It’s certainly not an area of the squad requiring more spending.

The same can be said for Chelsea, but not Manchester United. The latter will certainly need additions in that area when Casemiro departs.

The issue is these stories about Nmecha have been coming from Germany for nearly three years but have never progressed. Every year, another team enters the mix, and reports have even touted Tottenham in recent months.

But none of these apparent suitors have ever moved or done anything definitive. The same can now be said of Manchester City. Guardiola and co have simply joined those watching according to BILD.
