Alexis Mac Allister looks set for another busy March as the Liverpool midfielder prepares to join up with the Argentina squad for the upcoming international break and the highly anticipated Finalissima against Spain.

The upcoming March international break is set to run from the 23rd to the 31st, with Mac Allister set to face Spain on the 27th of March for the Finalissima. It is a relatively new tournament that pits the winners of Copa América and Euros.

Originally, the Finalissima was due to be staged at Lusail Stadium in Qatar, the venue of the 2022 World Cup final. However, the growing tension involving the United States, Israel and Iran has led to security concerns in the region, and the Qatar Football Association has temporarily suspended football activity, placing the showpiece in serious doubt.

UEFA are looking at other options as a result. Reliable TyC reporter Gaston Edul has now reported four stadiums that are being drawn up as contigency venues.

The well‑connected Argentine journalist has reported that the Santiago Bernabéu in Madrid, MetLife Stadium in New York, the Stadio Olimpico in Rome and Wembley Stadium in London are all seen as likely venues should the Qatar trip be deemed unfeasible. Each venue would provide a blockbuster stage, but from Liverpool’s perspective there is an obvious preference.

Should the Finalissima be played in Europe, Mac Allister’s travel load becomes significantly lighter.

A trip to London, Madrid or Rome is far more manageable than another long‑haul journey to the Middle East or the United States, reducing jet lag and fatigue when he still needs to come back to complete Liverpool’s season.

Even MetLife, while still a demanding flight, would at least avoid the added complications currently surrounding Qatar. As the governing bodies close in on a final decision, Liverpool fans will be watching closely, hoping that wherever the Finalissima lands, it won’t take too much out of thier N0.10.
