Revealed: When Liverpool expect Jeremy Jacquet back after shoulder surgery

Jeremy Jacquet will undergo surgery on a dislocated shoulder suffered playing for Rennes, and while it will end his season Liverpool have hope over his return.

Rennes confirmed on Tuesday that Jacquet requires surgery after attempting to rehab a shoulder injury suffered last month.

It has ended the 20-year-old’s campaign early and means he has played his final game for the French club, as he prepares to join Liverpool in a £60 million deal this summer.

While initial projections of a four-to-six-month recovery suggested he could be sidelined into the start of next season, the club are more hopeful.

According to The Athletic‘s James Pearce, Liverpool expect Jacquet to be available for the start of pre-season in July.

All being well the young defender can begin life at his new club fully fit and able to take part in preparations for the new campaign.

He is expected to take a prominent role in Liverpool’s plans for next season, with a significant spend highlighting their belief in a player who has only made 37 appearances in Ligue 1.

Arne Slot will also hope to have Conor Bradley back for pre-season after the right-back underwent surgery on a serious knee injury.

Giovanni Leoni is in a similar position after ACL surgery in October and the Italian centre-back could also rejoin his team-mates for the start of the summer.

Having all three players fit for pre-season would be a major boost after a campaign in which Liverpool have been unable to find consistency due to their ongoing injury situation.

The Reds are expected to tour the United States again this summer and are slated to play Wrexham in one of their warmup friendlies in New York City.

Talks are however ongoing and the club are yet to confirm their schedule, which will be impacted by the majority of the first team representing their countries at the World Cup.

Liverpool could also look to arrange a handful of domestic friendlies and are likely to hold at least one at Anfield.
