Everton returned to winning ways at Hill Dickinson Stadium by defeating Burnley 2-0 to record back-to-back victories in the Premier League in the space of four days having triumphed 3-2 against Newcastle United at St James’ Park on Saturday.

James Tarkowski and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall got the goals as David Moyes' men bolstered their hopes of securing European football for next season.

But then you knew of all that, didn't you? But here's a look at some of the potential moments you might have missed...

Never felt more like singing the Blues

Dewsbury-Hall was being interviewed live on television by TNT Sports, who had named him man-of-the-match, out on the pitch when there was a loud interruption in the background. Asked by presenter Jules Breach, what Moyes was doing to help the 27-year-old achieve his best goalscoring season in the Premier League, having just hit six for the campaign, the player was just about to answer when cheers could be heard from the stands in what appeared to be an empty ground.

However, with Liverpool’s game at Molineux having kicked-off some 45 minutes later than Everton’s fixture, Blues supporters still enjoying the hospitality around Hill Dickinson Stadium were celebrating Andre’s stoppage-time winner for bottom club Wolverhampton Wanderers against their local rivals.

To be fair to Dewsbury-Hall, he got several sentences into his answer before being unable to ignore the noise any longer and asked: “Has somebody scored?”

When it was pointed out what had happened, co-presenter Joleon Lescott, who joined Everton from Wolves in 2006, remarked: “That will get a big cheer around here,” while the midfielder replied: “That’s even better!”

Not so vintage Clarets

It wasn’t just the Everton supporters who were making themselves known though at Hill Dickinson Stadium. During the game itself, Burnley’s fans, on their first trip to the Blues’ new home, came out with a rather biting repertoire, displaying gallows humour as their newly-promoted side look set to go straight back down to the Championship again.

With the game remaining goalless for over half an hour, the visiting Clarets section ‘taunted’ their hosts with: “How s**t must you be, you haven’t scored yet.” The visitors, who had made the relatively short trip from East Lancashire, then belted out ditties such as: “We’re f*****g s**t,” “We’ve got the ball,” and then turned on their own manager Scott Parker when he substituted Hannibel Mejbri, telling the Cockney gaffer: “You don’t know what you’re doing.”

Ndiaye meets the fans

After another impressive display for Everton providing the assist for their second goal, Iliman Ndiaye made way for Tim Iroegbunam in the 86th minute but was on the far side of the pitch from the dugouts when his number came up and made a leisurely return to the bench. While the game was still going on, the winger stopped to sign autographs for fans and gave out some high-fives.

Then, after the action had finished and he was wrapped up in a long coat, he returned towards the stands to some supporters who were displaying a Senegal flag and he handed his now removed matchday jersey to young fan who looked thrilled to receive the special memento.

Up and under

Going back to Dewsbury-Hall, for the third game running, from kick-off, James Garner passed the ball to him and he flicked the ball high into the air in the manner of a rugby ‘up and under.’ Is this something that he picked up from Leicester Tigers having learned his trade across the road at the King Power Stadium? Apparently not, as the Nottingham-born player claimed he was just following his manager’s instructions.

Everton – whose Hill Dickinson Stadium hosts both the rugby league Magic Weekend and a rugby union international between Fiji and England this summer – had also deployed the tactic in their previous two games against Manchester United and Newcastle United.

But when asked by TNT what it was all about, Dewsbury-Hall said: “I think Brentford did it a couple of weeks ago and it was quite good.

“We’ve actually done it the last couple of games. You (Lescott) know as a defender, that’s hard to defend.

“Get yourself on the front foot. It’s probably not the first thing that I would have chosen to do as a player, but whatever the gaffer says, I’ll do it.”
