Following a win Saturday against the Portland Trail Blazers, the Charlotte Hornets looked to increase their current win streak to five games, coming off of plenty of rest.
The Hornets got off to a good start, taking a nine-point lead into halftime.
However, Charlotte really turned things on in the second half, knocking down a barrage of three-pointers to blow the game open and ultimately cruise to a 27-point victory.
In the win, three-pointers were certainly the difference, as Charlotte made 20 on 39% shooting, while the Mavericks mustered just three on 14% shooting.
Of Charlotte's 20 three-pointers made, Grant Williams provided four off the bench and finished with 12 points to go along with four rebounds, three assists and one steal.
After the game, Williams addressed the media regarding Charlotte's unexpected success.
"It's Hornets basketball, man. Everyone's shocked, Charlotte Hornets. Who would've thought?"
Williams, who played his high school basketball in Charlotte, went on to speak about the city and watching franchise greats like Kemba Walker growing up.
Walker works in the Hornets' organization now as a coach, but the team hasn't made a playoff appearance since he played with them 10 years ago in the 2015-16 season.
With the win, Charlotte moved back to .500 at 31-31 for the first time in 58 games when they were 2-2 to begin the season.
As a result, they now sit ninth in the Eastern Conference standings, just two and a half games behind the Philadelphia 76ers for the sixth seed.
Following Tuesday's game, the Hornets will travel to Boston for a game against the Celtics Wednesday on the second night of a back-to-back.
