Jurgen Klopp’s name just will not leave the headlines, and this week the noise around his future has cranked up another notch.
After a year as Red Bull’s Head of Global Soccer, reports in Austria and England have suggested both Klopp and the Red Bull hierarchy are far from satisfied with how the project is unfolding. Results across the Red Bull stable have been underwhelming, with RB Leipzig struggling to nail down a Champions League place and other partner clubs fighting relegation, fuelling talk that the German could walk away as early as this summer.
Crucially, it has been claimed that Red Bull would not stand in his way if he pushes to return to the dugout, effectively opening the door to a sensational comeback to frontline coaching for the former Liverpool boss.
Into that backdrop have stepped fresh claims from Spain that Klopp may already have chosen his next destination – and it is not Real Madrid.
Spanish TV show El Chiringuito has sensationally claimed that the 58‑year‑old is in advanced talks with Atlético Madrid over taking charge at the Metropolitano next season.
It’s added that the CEO of Apollo (majority shareholder of the club), Mark Rowan, is personally taking charge of talks believes that the German is the next manager to further Atletico’s ambitions.
The same reports stresses that Klopp recently turned down an approach from Real Madrid, underlining that, if he does quit his Red Bull role this summer, the path is being cleared for a dramatic return to the touchline in red and white – just not the colours Liverpool supporters might have been dreaming of.
😯 ¿KLOPP, al ATLÉTICO DE MADRID?
‼️ “El CEO de Apollo está negociando con él”.
