David Moyes states the 'problem' Everton have in the race for Europe

Everton defeated Burnley 2-0 at the Hill Dickinson Stadium on Tuesday evening.

David Moyes’ side have now moved to within one point of the Conference League spot, so the European dream is well and truly alive.

James Tarkowski sent a warning to seventh-placed Brentford after the game, explaining that they’re hunting down their spot.

Moyes was a little more cautious in his post-match interview, as he admitted consistency could be their main ‘problem’ in the race for Europe.

Everton have been pretty up and down this season and haven’t actually put together a three-game win streak yet.

Moyes admitted that it could be their Achilles heel as they bid for a top-seven finish.

“So, the good news is that we’re back in the mix again,” the Toffees boss said after the Burnley victory.

“We’re around it. It would be amazing if we could do it. It really would be because you know, I’ve got to say, I started out and I said to the players, let’s make that what we’ve got to do.

“And I’m pushing them all the time. One week you feel good that you might do it and the next couple of weeks you don’t.

“So that’s the problem. What I’ve found probably since about November time, that’s the way it’s been.”

Opta’s supercomputer predicts whether Everton will get Europe

According to Opta’s supercomputer, Everton are predicted to finish in eighth place, thus narrowly missing out on a European spot.

The software expects Moyes’ side to finish on 53 points, with Brentford finishing in seventh on 57.

The Toffees are currently averaging 1.48 points per game, which projects them to end up on a very commendable 57 points.
