Tom Brady's Role in Maxx Crosby's Feud With Raiders Revealed

While Maxx Crosby hasn’t formally requested a trade, reports from last season stated that he was done with the Las Vegas Raiders.

The team shut him down for the final stretch of the season, even though he was healthy enough to play. That reportedly pushed him over the edge, as he wanted to be on the field even with the No. 1 pick on the horizon.

Crosby has remained tight-lipped about his future, but he’s still expected to be moved at some point in the offseason. However, while there are plenty of sports-related reasons he’d want to leave the Raiders, Michael Silver of The Athletic reported that part of his discomfort stemmed from Raiders minority owner Tom Brady.

Maxx Crosby Was ‘Frustrated’ By Tom Brady’s Confidant Alex Guerrero

Per Silver, Crosby resented the presence of Alex Guerrero, Brady’s longtime trainer and business partner:

“Like many players and coaches, Crosby was frustrated by the presence of Alex Guerrero, a staunch Brady ally whose official title is wellness coordinator,” Silver reported.

With Brady also serving as an analyst for Fox, he cannot be at the Raiders’ facility as often as he’d like. Therefore, Guerreo is perceived as his eyes and ears in the organization, an approach that rubbed some players the wrong way:

“Guerrero, who regularly attends practices and meetings, purports to possess significant organizational power, informing players of impending transactions and even indicating to staff members who don't follow his instructions that their jobs may be at risk,” the report added. “Guerrero is perceived to have a direct pipeline to Brady, who lives in Florida and serves as Fox's lead NFL analyst, limiting his in-person presence. Suffice it to say that there are trust issues permeating the Raiders' training facility in Henderson, Nev.”

Crosby is the most prominent name in the trade market right now. The Raiders may not get the same haul the Dallas Cowboys got for Micah Parsons (i.e, two first-round picks and a starting-caliber player), but they can at least get a first-round selection to pair with Fernando Mendoza.

Brady is an incredibly competitive person who always goes the extra mile to gain an edge over his opponents. Ironically, he may also be responsible for driving Crosby out of town.
