There is not a more historic playing field than that of the home of the Green Bay Packers, Lambeau Field. Built in 1957, it is one of the longest-standing stadiums still in use by any professional sports franchise. Of course, it has gone over numerous upgrades throughout the years and now boasts some of the most state of the art facilities.
And it is a good thing, too. Yesterday, March 3, these modern upgrades helped save the historic stadium from a fire. The cause of the fire remains unknown.

According to a report by Fox 11, the fire started in the third locker room at Lambeau Field. This particular locker room is not not used by the Packers or by visiting NFL teams.
Per the report:
“A FOX 11 crew on the scene observed what appeared to be a burned plastic storage bin removed from the building. GBMFD Lt. Shauna Walesh said she did not have information on exactly what burned.
“The fire marshal’s office is investigating the cause of the fire. No injuries were reported. A specific damage amount is unknown at this time.”
Fortunately, no injuries were reported. That being said, the specific damage from the fire is not currently known.
Fox 11 reported, also, that the particular locker room that caught fire was built in 2024. It is used for non-NFL events (such as Wisconsin Badgers football games, concerts, etc) and cost about $5 million.
It was also reported that the sprinkler system in said locker room extinguished most of the flames before fire fighters arrived on the scene. The entire fire was fully put out within 10 minutes of the initial call to the fire department.
