Liverpool will need to tinker with their squad in the summer and one target has been told that he can leave.

Liverpool’s transfer plans will be well under way as Richard Hughes looks to fill the gaps that have become apparent this season.

Despite a record spend, against Wolves, Arne Slot’s options on the bench were limited, especially in terms of those who could add to the attack. After having the inside track to Antoine Semenyo, it must be painful for the Reds’ recruitment director to see how quickly he has settled in at the Etihad. As well as on the wings where players like Bradley Barcola and Yan Diomande have been linked, the midfield also appears to be an area of concern.

Liverpool given Eduardo Camavinga encouragement

One player who is near the top of Hughes’ shopping list is Real Madrid’s Eduardo Camavinga who Liverpool made a reported £61m offer for and, according to Defensa Central, the 23-year old could be about to leave the Bernabeau: “It's a World Cup year, and Real Madrid knows it's a good time to be active in the transfer market. Players who have performed well for their national teams could arrive after the tournament. But they could also sell others to raise funds for the signings they want to make.

“Rodrygo, Camavinga, Fede Valverde, and Brahim all seem likely to leave this summer , especially if they perform well and increase their market value in the tournament being played in North America. The money generated from their transfers could bring the signing of Adam Wharton closer.”

What would Camavinga bring to Liverpool?

There are few 23-year old’s who are as experienced as Camavinga. With two Champions League titles, two La Liga crowns and a handful of other continental and international trophies, the 6ft tall left footer’s technical ability is highlighted perfectly by his versatility. Although a natural in the middle of the park, the France international has also been deployed at centre-half, left-back, wide in midfield and on either wing. He is as complete as a footballer can be.

If it is a more defence minded no.6 that Hughes and Liverpool are looking for, Camavinga is as good as they will find, especially with Madrid reported to be willing to let him leave. With over 300 games under his belt already, he is hugely experienced but still has his best years ahead of him. He would be expensive, but an almost risk free investment.
