Adam Schefter blasts NBC NFL insider in viral Combine feud

NFL insiders have difficult jobs keeping up with the latest stories in the sport, and Adam Schefter appears to have taken one development very seriously.

The 2026 NFL Combine brought up an intriguing situation regarding Ohio State wide receiver Carnell Tate. Much was made to do with Tate’s 40-yard dash time and that led to some contradicting reports.

However, a growing feud between Adam Schefter and NBC’s Mike Florio seems to have spilled over onto social media this week. Florio posted his latest article on Pro Football Talk about Tate running a 4.52 seconds 40-yard dash.

Meanwhile, Schefter was very quick to clap back at the NBC Sports insider with screenshots from NFL teams attending the Combine.

The ESPN NFL news machine showed screenshots that indicated Tate ran a faster time than what was officially relayed. The Ohio State star allegedly had several timers saying that his 40 was closer to the 4.46 range.

While Tate could certainly run the 40 again at his Ohio State Pro Day event, reports of a slower time don’t seem to be hindering his NFL Draft stock. Mel Kiper Jr. projects the Buckeyes receiver to go inside the top 10 in April’s draft.

In his latest ESPN mock draft, Kiper Jr. anticipates the Cleveland Browns taking Tate. A move for Tate would keep him close to Columbus, where he went to college.

Last season, the Buckeyes wideout recorded 875 yards and nine touchdowns while averaging over 17 yards per catch. The dangerous downfield threat figures to be one of the first receivers off the board when the 2026 NFL Draft takes place..

Other wideouts like Arizona State’s Jordyn Tyson and USC’ Makai Lemon could also go inside the top 10 or during the top half of the first round.
