Newcastle United are interested in signing former Liverpool forward Darwin Nunez this summer, according to reports in Italy.
The Magpies are believed to be among the clubs monitoring Nunez’s situation at Al-Hilal, along with Serie A giants AC Milan and Premier League rivals Chelsea.
Nunez only joined the Saudi Pro League side in a deal initially worth £54m last summer, signing a contract until June 2028.
The Uruguayan has endured a turbulent first season in the Middle East, as Karim Benzema’s arrival at Al-Hilal in January has pushed the former Liverpool frontman down the pecking order.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Newcastle could face serious competition for Nunez’s signature this summer, particularly from AC Milan.
The Serie A club have identified the Uruguayan as a viable addition up front, along with the likes of Serhou Guirassy, Mateo Retegui and Nicolas Jackson.
Nunez, who reportedly earns £400,000 per week, has made 24 appearances for Al-Hilal since joining, scoring nine goals and providing five assists.
The 26-year-old spent three seasons with Liverpool and helped the club lift their second-ever Premier League title last term, scoring five times during the victorious campaign.
Newcastle Looking to Replace Woltemade?

Newcastle’s rumoured interest in Nunez is hardly surprising, given the Magpies are far from satisfied with their current striker options.
As GIVEMESPORT revealed last month, Newcastle are open to selling Nick Woltemade in the summer transfer window after the Germany international failed to impress in his first six months at the club.
Woltemade only joined in the summer in a club-record £69m deal from Stuttgart, alongside Congolese striker Yoane Wissa, who was signed from Brentford.
The two strikers have combined for eight goals this Premier League season, with Woltemade scoring seven.
Why Nunez Could Be a Smart Addition

Amid Newcastle’s interest in Nunez, we asked ChatGPT why the Uruguayan could be a smart addition for the struggling Magpies this summer:
Premier League‑proven attacking threat – Núñez’s pace, movement behind defences, and finishing ability would give Newcastle a dynamic option up front.
Timely opportunity – With his current club situation unsettled, Newcastle could sign him at a reasonable cost, adding quality without overextending financially.
Tactical fit – His pressing, off-the-ball work, and ability to run in behind complement Eddie Howe’s style, providing variety and intensity to Newcastle’s forward options.
