France winger Michael Olise joined Bayern Munich from Crystal Palace in the summer of 2024 and delivered 43 goal contributions – 20 goals and 23 assists – in his debut season across all competitions.

He has carried that form into the 2025/26 campaign, registering 13 goals and 25 assists, further underlining his importance. Now regarded as one of Europe’s most dynamic wide players, Olise has attracted interest from clubs including Liverpool, Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain.

Liverpool have a strong track record of recruiting from the Bundesliga, with Ibrahima Konate, Dominik Szoboszlai and Ryan Gravenberch all making successful moves to Anfield.

Olise’s profile fits the mould, particularly amid uncertainty over Mohamed Salah’s long-term future and expectations that Federico Chiesa could depart after sustained transfer speculation.

Salah was heavily linked with a January exit from Anfield after his outspoken comments following Liverpool’s 3-3 draw with Leeds in December, where he claimed he had been “abandoned” by the club.

Speaking at the time, Salah said: “I can’t believe I’m sitting on the bench for 90 minutes. This is the third time I’ve been on the bench, and I think it’s the first time in my career. I’m extremely frustrated. I’ve given so much to this club over the years, especially last season.

“And now I sit on the bench without knowing why. It feels like the club has abandoned me. That’s how I feel. I think it’s very clear that someone wanted to put all the blame on me.”

According to Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg, while Olise remains a dream target and background checks have been conducted, Liverpool currently view a deal as completely unrealistic ahead of the summer window.

Plettenberg posted on X: “Michael #Olise remains a dream target for Liverpool ahead of the upcoming summer window, and further background checks have been made. However, #LFC now consider a transfer to be completely unrealistic. He is not for sale.

“In addition, FC Bayern are looking to extend his contract beyond 2029, with plans to improve his current deal. Incredible 13G/25A this season yet. ⚠️ As a result, LFC are shifting their focus within the Bundesliga to Yan #Diomande.”
