The Dallas Cowboys and team owner Jerry Jones are facing a situation with star kicker Brandon Aubrey this offseason.

Aubrey, who is arguably the best kicker in the NFL right now, is looking to receive an aggressive pay raise. His contract demands would make him the highest-paid kicker in league history.

To this point, the Cowboys have been reluctant to give Aubrey what he is asking for and could risk losing him to another team. Speaking of losing him to another team, there is one rival NFC franchise who seems to have interest in pursuing Aubrey this offseason.

That team is none other than the Green Bay Packers.

Dallas Cowboys Could Risk Losing Brandon Aubrey to the Packers

Last offseason, just before the start of the 2025 NFL season, Dallas made a trade with the Packers that sent superstar pass rusher Micah Parsons out of town. Could the Cowboys lose another key player to Green Bay?

According to a report from Easton Butler of Packer Report, the Packers have registered interest with Aubrey’s reps.

“The Packers were reportedly in contact with K Brandon Aubrey’s Reps, per source,” Butler wrote in a post on X.

“Aubrey is expected to command the largest deal for a Kicker in NFL History, and with his reps also at the Combine, he could be kicking somewhere other than Jerry’s World in 2026.”

Green Bay has had a clear need at the kicker position for years. Brandon McManus was the Packers’ kicker last season, but he missed plenty of important kicks. That could lead the team to making an aggressive push to bring in a player of Aubrey’s caliber.

Losing Aubrey Would Be Devastating for the Cowboys

At 30 years old, Aubrey still has a long future ahead of him kicking in the NFL. Dallas should do whatever it can to make sure that his future is played out with the Cowboys.

Throughout his first three seasons in the NFL, Aubrey has made 112 of his 127 field goal attempts, which is good for 88.2 percent. He has made all 23 of his attempts from 20-29 yards, 26 of his 30 attempts from 30-39 yards, 28 of his 30 kicks from 40-49 yards, and 35 of his 44 kicks from 50+ yards out.

Aubrey has also made 126 of his 130 extra point attempts.

Those numbers are hard to replace. Plenty of teams have been undone by kicking problems. Dallas can’t afford to join that list of teams.

It will be interesting to see what the offseason has in store for the Cowboys and Aubrey. The two sides have yet to be able to hammer out a new deal and Green Bay seems to be lurking as a threat to steal him away.
