Lewis Dunk absence explained as Brighton make three changes for visit of Arsenal

Brighton and Hove Albion and Arsenal will both have to make do without a key defender when the two teams face off in the Premier League this evening.

Lewis Dunk is a surprise absentee from the matchday squad on Wednesday (March 4), whilst William Saliba misses out for the visitors after picking up a minor ankle injury.

Albion’s captain has reportedly suffered a knee injury and has been replaced by Olivier Boscagli – in one of three Brighton changes – whilst Cristhian Mosquera has come in for Arsenal’s French centre-half.

Coming back into the team for the Seagulls are Georginio Rutter – who leads the line, with Danny Welbeck on the bench – and Carlos Baleba.

Yasin Ayari is among the substitutes. The Sweden international midfielder has missed the last four matches after dislocating his shoulder in the 1-1 draw at Everton.

Also on the bench in James Milne, whose rest is deserved and expected after the 40-year-old started back-to-back league matches.

Solly March and Charalampos Kostoulas are both missing the matchday squad.

March made his first outing since April 2025 against Nottingham Forest on Sunday. Persistent knee injuries have kept the winger out of regular action since 2023.

It remains to be explained why Kostoulas is sideliened.

For Arsenal, there is a change in attack as Gabriel Martinelli replaces former Seagull Leandro Trossard.
