It was one of his quietest seasons in his career. He had an average of 59.6 yards per game, his lowest ever since his debut season in 2015.

There is speculation that the Patriots leadership now feels that it is time for Diggs to move on, despite only joining them in 2025. Other than his performances on the field, there is the financial aspect. If he remains on the roster by March 13, an amount of $6 million will be added to his annual salary. His salary cap hit is approximately $26.5 million, and if released before June 1, the franchise can save $16.8 million in cap space.
The Patriots are thinking of bringing in a new wide receiver, with the name of A. J. Brown being speculated most. All of the rumors have now been seemingly addressed by Diggs himself. He recently unfollowed the Patriots on Instagram, which indicates a breakdown of relations between the two parties.
