Alec Pierce #14 of the Indianapolis Colts
New England Patriots free agent target Alec Pierce appears to be an option for the Patriots. Bleacher Report’s Jordan Schultz reported this.
Pierce is coming off a productive season. He recorded 47 receptions for 1,003 yards and six touchdowns last year.
He has established a level of consistency throughout the course of his career. In 63 games played, he has recorded 157 receptions for 2,934 yards and 17 touchdowns. The receiver fully established himself as a deep threat for the Colts this past season. He had three games of over 80 receiving yards on the year.
Now, it appears the Patriots are actively monitoring the wide receiver, per Schultz.
This is certainly intriguing, as he could be another option for the Patriots in the wide receiver room. They have been connected to several playmakers over the past couple days. Most recently, they were listed in a report as one of the teams that could make a run at Chicago Bears wideout D. J. Moore.
Per sources, the #Patriots have been in on the big names on the WR free-agent market next week and are believed to be prepared to spend big.
Alec Pierce is among the names they’ve been eyeing. The trade market is also an option. https://t.co/KntNFfix4T

Pierce Fits What Patriots Want At Wideout
Pierce fits into the mold of what the Patriots are looking for moving forward. He is 25 years old and is entering the prime of his career. The Patriots want a younger option at the position. Stefon Diggs‘ was released on Wednesday, and the Patriots have a tough decision to make. They could benefit from having a younger playmaker at the position in Pierce.
On top of this, it could be an opportunity where the Patriots could set the market for his price. He is just coming off his rookie contract this coming season. The contract itself equated to a four-year $6.6 million deal that he signed with the team in 2022. His production is going to warrant a major payday moving forward. This could be a unique opportunity for the Patriots to set the market.
Even though last season was his breakout year, he was still able to play at a high level in the years preceding it. He recorded 824 receiving yards in 2024 and had seven touchdowns to go along with it. He recorded 32 catches for 514 yards and two touchdowns in 2023. Consistency has been a hallmark of his game, and it’s been that way ever since he entered the league.
This is certainly going to be a player worth watching for the Patriots. They are still looking for that playmaking wide receiver, and he is on the younger side. He checks off several boxes for what they are looking for. Now it’s just about being able to make the most of what is undoubtedly going to be a competitive market. The sky appears to be the limit for Pierce, and the Patriots would be wise to at least kick the tires on a potential deal.
